Tirley Shemple @NYC Clown Festival ~ Sept 1st. ~

It all began in such an unsuspecting way. A new version of an old story book classic ~ But it wasn’t that at all!

The description provided by the production was this: Tirley Shemple is the most talented girl in show business. She’s up for the role of a lifetime – Follow her into her biggest audition of her career. But what happens if she doesn’t become a huge star? SHE DIES! From the creators of Officer Scott: Too Much Isn’t Enough.

A roller coaster ride through the mind of a misled performing artist — that’s the only way to describe what Sloan Brettholtz unleashed on stage, and I had my camera up for every twist of it. I wasn’t prepared for what came next: audience participation pulled unsuspecting spectators into the chaos, blood that looked all too real, wild theatrics that kept shifting the ground under the room, and projections layered over the action — courtesy of production designer and director Bailey Nassetta — that gave the whole piece an extra dimension. I shot the entire show, frame by frame, and the photographs below capture just how unhinged and unforgettable it was.
