Fresh off the press: Bushwick Book Club’s new zine!

The Bushwick Book Club: Where Literature Meets Community

Welcome to the vibrant world of the Bushwick Book Club! More than just a book club, it’s a celebration of literature, art, and community, all bound together in the pages of their unique zine. Let’s dive into what makes this collective so special.

What is the Bushwick Book Club?

Imagine a book club where every meeting is an event, where the chosen book inspires a night of original music, comedy, and art. That’s the Bushwick Book Club in a nutshell! Founded in 2009 by Susan Hwang and Brian Patrick Costello, it’s a creative platform where artists interpret a book through various mediums, sharing their unique perspectives with an eager audience.

The Zine: A Tangible Piece of the Magic

The Bushwick Book Club zine is a fantastic extension of their live events. It captures the essence of their gatherings, offering a tangible piece of the magic for those who attend and those who can’t. Each issue is a curated collection of:

Artist Submissions: Featuring original artwork, poems, and even song lyrics inspired by the featured book. It’s a testament to the diverse interpretations a single piece of literature can inspire.

Event Recaps: A chance to relive the energy of past shows, often with photos and descriptions of the performances.

Interviews: Insights from the founders, participating artists, or even audience members, offering a deeper look into the club’s ethos.

Exclusive Content: Sometimes the zine will include content that didn’t make it into the live show, or further explorations of themes from the book.

The current Bushwick Book Club zine chronicles the December 2025 Event with photographs, music lyrics and a link to the performance video.
