Flashback – ‘Bouffon Glass Menajoree” at The Brick

Directed by Eric Davis. Here is what he had to say about the show.

“Grotesque in nature, often physically deformed, the bouffon is the outcast shunned by society and told to live outside of the village. On rare occasions, they are asked to perform for the pleasure of those who previously persecuted them. On these occasions the bouffons willingly accept. (What choice do they have? Perform or be killed!) Thus, these hideous creatures enter the circle of society once more, light on their feet, eternally smiling with hateful eyes. Charming, entertaining and smart, they plan to take the piss out of you all!”Screen Shot 2016-01-29 at 2.01.11 AM

Audrey Crabtree – “One of Us! A Bouffon Emersion” workshop – 2012 NY Clown Theatre Festival

The workshop description read:

“Spend two days embedded in the world of the bouffon! Learn to translate your observations and frustration with society, systems, and stereotypes into playful dynamic theater work. Through pre-table work and physical play you will develop a unique core character from the inside out. Working in packs you will practice the skills, tools, and tactics of bouffon and begin to find your endless voice. Come to birth a new character or deepen an existing bouffon. Be prepared to move, play hard, and become ONE OF US!”

I arrived on the 2nd day of the workshop and the workshop participants were already preparing themselves for an improv. I was able to capture a series of trios and got a wonderful group shot.
