Next Friday, on Parallel Exit’s Artistic Director Mark Lonergan’s birthday, Parallel Exit celebrates 25 years.
On Friday, February 26th, at 7:00 pm, we celebrate a quarter-century of work, with laughter, performances, and interviews with some of your favorite Parallel Exit artists
I have photographed many of this company’s wonderful shows and I can say that they are ‘brilliant’. Both the director and the company bring so much joy and laughter to the audience. You will not be disappointed if you attend this Celebration!
2 Tours Nightly: Thursday – Saturday at 7:00pm and 8:30pm; Sunday at 5:00pm and 6:30pm
AFTERPARTY: The Rothko Studio is a site-specific, promenade performance in and around the former studio of legendary painter Mark Rothko. Built in 1884 for the YMCA as the Young Men’s Institute, 222 Bowery is best known for the many now-famous artists who lived, worked, and played in this landmarked gem. The building’s former gymnasium is where Rothko created the infamous “Seagram Murals” commissioned by The Four Seasons restaurant in 1957. AFTERPARTY explores this pivotal moment for downtown artists and offers a rare opportunity to visit this historic studio space.

Opening the show in the Derek Lloyd Stage was Pat Oleszko and her beautiful inflatables.
The theater was packed for the AGA show in the Derek Lloyd theater.

On National Sawdust curator Sxip Shirey‘s 50th birthday, Sxip celebrates the 15th anniversary (!) of his Hour of Charm. This special (and acrobatic) birthday and the anniversary edition of Sxip’s Hour of Charm!
My work explores the connection between places and internal solitude. While capturing these select images, I found myself reflecting upon ideas, plans, and dreams while suddenly realizing I was solo within the cultural landscape minus its inhabitants. I intend to take the viewer to this quiet place of contemplation where the textures, shapes, and light provide a heightened sensation of the solo perspective. From the hush in the light drenched hall of the Louvre in Paris or gritty ancient feel of the Italian hills of Matera, I hope to expose the details of solitude that might be missed ina crowded metropolis.
