Interview with Sir Richard Castle (Yes, Bradford Scobie Showed Up in Character)

Sir Richard Castle always brings his audience a damn good time—and he knows it.

As a regular fixture at one of New York’s most notorious and naughty cabarets, The Slipper Room, he delivers his material with such impeccable timing and shameless panache that I simply had to dig deeper into the man behind the character.

Last year, Sir Richard served as MC for the Variety Show Spectacular charming the pants off everyone (metaphorically speaking—this time). His antics were so deliciously entertaining that I became an instant superfan. Turns out, the brilliant Bradford Scobie has inhabited countless characters throughout his career, but Sir Richard remains one of his most beloved creations.

So naturally, I cornered Bradford backstage at The Slipper Room this past November to get the scoop. What follows is a conversation about performance, personality, and the fine art of being gloriously insufferable.
