What a delightful romp thru the minds of 3 of NY’s wildest performers.
The Red Bastard, William Shakespeare and Zero Boy
I must admit I was having trouble shooting the show. The laughter made it impossible!
Here is William Shakespeare (Chris Rozzi) making his entrance.
William Shakespeare informed the audience that he wasn’t only an author, director and poet but also a performer of monologs.
Here (Chris Rozzi) does a new ‘original’ science fiction story for the audience at the Gershwin Hotel.
Reading the ‘reviews’ got him worried for a minute.

The Red Bastard (Eric Davis) had the audience in the palm of his hand as soon as he entered the room.
Gesturing in wildly choreographed moves he captivated all present with ‘instructions on life’.

Zero Boy makes his mark by creating an audio track for your nightmares. (or his!)
We witness the Coney Island roller coaster, merry go round and a western movie thrown in for good measure.
His body contorts with his hands and rubber face as he covers the audience with an immense vocabulary of sound effects.
His talent to create sound effects is so convincing that it seems to take command of his body as he visualizes the experience for the audience to see.
A wonderful evening of fun, imagination and hilarity.
If you see any of these performers in your neighborhood – - – Go See Them!

The Kapinski Private Eye Academy
It was a cold and windy night with a thunder storm. The rain came down.
The show had to move from it’s original location to under the BQE.
These photographs were taken as evidence that the show went on despite the weather.
Butt Kapinski heralded the crowd of spectators to gather together and peruse the situation at this new yet unknown territory.
Walking with the crowd checking out the clues.
What is going on here? Let’s find out.
Yeah. It goes like this! You need to ‘want’ to investigate.
This is what I am talking about! Concern and insight.
As the crowd watches on the real ‘threat’ hides behind the column.
This victim is squirming and shaking so much from the knives imbedded in his chest. What to do?
The lineup. The Audience. The students. The action is near!
The Private Eye Academy students watch as Butt Kapinski tells it like it is!
When all is said and done the detective and director walk off into the night!
Great show and a learning experience for all.

On Friday September 3rd The NY Clown Theatre Festival got off to a great start with the Clown Parade. Beginning in Union Square and moving to The Brick Theatre in Williamsburg where the festival is presented. More than 100 clowns and admirers moved through the streets of NY and into the L train station for their fun trip to Brooklyn. I have posted a good selection of photographs from that adventure.
John Towsen was present at the parade. John and his performing partner Fred Yockers were the producers of the First NY Clown Theatre Festival back in the 1983. He was happy to see the tradition continue under the guidance of Audrey Crabtree cofounder with Eric Davis.

Jonathan Kaplan will be performing in the festival in ‘Le Fleur’.

Once the crowd arrived at The Brick Theatre it was only a matter of time until the ‘Pie Throwing Contest’ got started.
First the referee had to lay down the rules and then all hell broke lose!
If you want to see more Clown Theatre that will bring joy to your bones and laughter to your soul…

Tonight we saw the Golden Nose Awards Ceremony. IT was a festive evening with Golden Noses going to Eric Davis for “Clown of the Year’. The “Clown Organization of the Year” Golden Nose Award went to Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit. Michael Christensen accepted the award. The Audience Choice award for Best Clown Act went to “Otto and Lewis” and the award was accepted by Brian Foley. His partner Matthew Duncan was in St. Louis getting married. The Audience Choice Best Clown Character went to Brett Alters for his – Squeeks the Clown.
Host and Producer Christopher Lueck leaves the stage a proud man!
Christopher Lueck (and Amanda Pekoe) have produced the show for the past 4 years and has presented over 400 clown acts during that time. The entire clown community would come out for these shows which happened the 3rd Monday of every month. Christopher announced during the March show that he was going to not produce the show any more and the Golden Nose Awards Ceremony would be his last ‘hurrah’. It was a splendid evening with great performers and organizations getting their just awards. It will be missed!
Great Job Chris. We will Miss You!
