The beginning of the New Year was a great FIRST showing of the New Bindlestiff Open Stage Variety Show at Dixon Place.
After getting noticed by the Village Voice Choices editor and Time Out the house was SOLD OUT!
Here are a few moments from the wonderful evenings performances.

A funny character piece by Adam Kuchler was a delight to the audience.
A ‘balloonatic’ on the loose. Adam gets sidetracked from his goal by the balloon.
Finally he gets his one arm balance accomplished. Amazing!

BILLY SCHULTZ
Billy Schultz begins his ‘Song and Dance Man’ piece behind shades!
“I want to be a Song and Dance man”.

KEITH NELSON
Keith Nelson attempts to catch 2 spoons in the cups while keeping his plates spinning.
Keith Nelson keeps his 4 plates spinning and next month will add more.

MAGIC BRIAN
The suave performer Magic Brian takes the stage and begins his routine.
The volunteer audience member handcuffs Magic Brian first.
Magic Brian gets tied up with rope and his feet secured with chains and he is blindfolded.
He attempts to escape the ‘bonding’ and do it before the female volunteer can find her card in the deck.

The ‘sideshow’ band 999 Eyes performs a few songs from their set.

Suave “The Brooklyn Juggler” Kyle Petersen on a unicycle juggling clubs.
Kyle changes his wardrobe and begins to unicycle and hulahoop at the same time.

OLIVIA
Olivia begins the piece as a classical accordion player and then everything goes wacky.
The sheet music leaves the stand and ends up on her shoe. She continues as if nothing happened.
With her accordion behind her back she some how ends up on the floor trying to read her sheet music.

AMAZING AMY
Amazing Amy is indeed the most amazing contortionist around.
Great strength and flexible body makes this woman the most Amazing!

JAN MANKE
Jan Manke enters the stage with crutches and angel wings.
Beautiful physical control and technique on the aerial act.
Sometimes the act took on a visual resemblance to a painting.

Private detective Olivia finds out there is a ‘bomb’ in the ceiling.
Using the silk to climb to the ceiling and finds the bomb. In the interim she performs some amazing aerial feats.

Christopher introduces the “GAME” and finds a couple of contestants to play.

BILLY SCHULTZ
Mixing a musical number with audience participation and a ‘song and dance’ piece.
He hands out a few plastic buckets to the audience volunteers for the percussion element of the act.

A Clown Mug and Clown Dish are presented to the lucky audience member.

Book Kennison is the MC of the evening’s festivities. Making funny comments all night long!

What a wonderful Birthday Party!
A great community of performers and friends gathered together on Tuesday night May 10th to help Jim Moore (Me!)
celebrate his(my) birthday.
Starting with Channel One‘s Emily James and Ishah Janssen-Faith performing a delightfully funny excerpt from their show.

Next up was one of the funniest men around these days. Glen Heroy!
He performed this night as Elton John and serenaded the audience with a few wonderful songs.

Sinatra: born 1915, died 1998. Hits include, “That’s Life” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” Won the Academy Award in 1953 for his role as Maggio in From Here to Eternity.
Simulacra: (noun). Implies an unsatisfactory imitation or representation.
‘The Noble Rot’ brought the wonderful and cocktail loaded Las Vegas enviornment to Dixon Place for One Night Only!
It was a ‘casino’ and ‘cocktail bar’ and ‘Jonny Cigar’ sang his way through a mix of Sinatra’s hits and never-before-heard material.
Jokes and monologues kept the hour going well and the videos of Frank Sinatra (the real one) singing with Jonny Cigar keeping sync were wonderful.
A great 7 piece band lead by DANIEL BARNIDGE was a great asset for the audience and Jonny Cigar.
